THE HOLY OF HOLIES
Type and Picture of Jehovah; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
I. ENTERANCE TO THE HOLY OF HOLIES
Exodus 26:31-34 (Context 31-36) (NAS)
31. “You shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman.
32. “You shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, their hooks also being of gold, on four sockets of silver.
Four pillars symbolic of the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, anchored into four sockets of silver; Silver is symbolic of redemption. The four gospels tell of Jesus birth, and a glimpse of His life, snapshots of His youth. The historical and biblical record gives us His last three years; His teaching the twelve disciples He chose; Lastly His death and resurrection from the dead.
II. THE VEIL
Next I Give Three Different Translations To Give A Clear And Precise Understanding
The Veil Represented Jesus The Mediator
Hebrews 10:20 (CJB)
20. He inaugurated it for us as a new and living way through the parokhet, by means of his flesh.
Hebrews 10:20 (NAS)
20. by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
Hebrews 10:19,20 (NKJ)
19. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20. By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
The Holy place is where man is invited, but the Holy of Holies is where man needs to live.
The word veil (Hebrew, paroketh) means to separate and its primary function was to separate the Holy of Holies from the remainder of the tabernacle. The veil, also called a curtain, acted as a barrier (Mediator, Protection) between God and man, shutting God in and man out.
VEIL-Greek-katapetasma—2665—“that which is spread out” (petannumi) “before” (kata).
Veil itself is symbolic of Jesus Christ as He was spread out on the cross, and lifted up before God and man as mediator as a blood sacrifice for Mankind.
Behind the veil
In The Holy of Holies we get a glimpse of: God the Father; Who Wants To Dwell with man. God the Son; the Mercy Seat. Mediator
1 Timothy 2:4-6 (CJB)
4. He wants all humanity to be delivered and come to full knowledge of the truth.
5. For God is one; and there is but one Mediator between God and humanity, Yeshua the Messiah,
6. who gave himself (1 Peter 1:20) as a ransom on behalf of all, thus providing testimony to God’s purpose at just the right time

1 Timothy 2:4-6 (VOICE)
4. who desires for everyone to be saved and know the truth.
5. Because There is one God and one Mediator between God and us—the man Jesus, God’s Anointed,

1 Peter 1:20, 21 (VOICE)
20. God determined to send Him before the world began, but He came into the world in these last days for your sake.
21. Through Him, you’ve been brought to trust in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him for the very reason that your faith and hope are in Him.
Why was the “Ark of the Covenant” made first?
The purpose is to establish that salvation does not start with man, but with God. Throughout the Bible the emphasis is on God, not on man in the way of salvation.
Everything in the Ark represents what God gave to mankind in the past, present, and future!
1. Rod Of Moses—Gods Choice of authority, leadership, and power (From God).2. Ten Commandments—His Word, obedience, blessing, and expectation.3. Manna—Substance, New beginnings, and the Blessed Hope.

III. ARK OF THE COVENANT
Exodus 25:10-16 (NAS)
10. “They shall construct an ark of acacia wood two and a half cubits long, and one and a half cubits wide, and one and a half cubits high.
11. You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and you shall make a gold molding around it.
12. You shall cast four gold rings for it and fasten them on its four feet, and two rings shall be on one side of it and two rings on the other side of it.
13. You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
God gave specific instructions on the size of the Ark of the Covenant. The material that it was to be made of; acacia wood (Hard wood, Durable) and the finishing touch; He covered it with Gold (Deity of Jesus Christ) to hide the imperfections, so all that was seen was beauty and worth. Does this sound familiar in what Jesus did for us?
14. You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them.
15. The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be removed from it.
God even has prepared how to carry and travel with them. This symbolizes what the comforting Holy Spirit does for us today. The Holy Spirit is constantly with us, to carry and be alongside of us in every situation.
16. You shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.
God even gave the reason for making the ark and its purpose.
THE ARK OF THE COVENANT
The Ark was called by several names:
1. “The Ark of the Testimony” (Exodus 25:22);
2. “The Ark of the Covenant” (Numbers 10:33),
3. “The Ark of God” (I Samuel 3:3);
4. “The Ark of the Lord God” (I Kings 2:26);
5. “The Holy Ark” (2 Chronicles 35:3);
6. “The Ark of thy strength” (Psalm 132:8)
The Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies was symbolic of the Lord’s glory in a very special way:
John 1:14 (NAS)
14. As the ark dwelt among mankind, so Christ also dwelt with mankind.

John 1: 14-17 (NAS)
14. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15. John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”
Verse 15 directly relates to what 1 Perter 1:20 says.
Peter 1:20 (VOICE)
20. God determined to send Him before the world began, but He came into the world in these last days for your sake.
John 1: 16-17 (NAS)

17. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ
Matthew 5:17, 18 (VOICE)
17. Do not think that I have come to overturn or do away with the law or the words of our prophets. To the contrary: I have not come to overturn them but to fulfill them.
18. This, beloved, is the truth: until heaven and earth disappear, not one letter, not one pen stroke, will disappear from the sacred law—for everything, everything in the sacred law will be fulfilled and accomplished.

John 1:29-33 (NAS)
29. The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
30. This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’
31. I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.”
32. John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
33. I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.
As the ark represented the Throne of God, where He manifested His glory, so Christ is seated at the right hand of God in all of His glory.
Scripture For Reference and Validation
Exodus 40:34-37 (NKJ)
34. Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
35. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
36. Whenever the cloud was taken up above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys,
37. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up.
Inside the Ark: tables of the law, broken law demanded judgment and death to transgressors.
The law could not save; it could only condemn.
a. It could not take away sin; it could only reveal sin.
b. It could not give life to the sinner; but Judgment.
The acacia wood also typifies the Lord’s life and ministry.
This hard Acacia wood was not much to look at; it would never be used for something such as furniture by itself. It was rough with knots; when seen, people gave it no purpose of use.
Acacia wood symbolic of humanity—we are not much to look at, however when Jesus (Gold-Deity) was applied we became a beauty in Gods eyes.

IV. THE MERCY SEAT—(Jewish Bible Calls It A Cover)
Exodus 25:22 (NAS)
22. And there I will meet with thee from above the Mercy Seat, from between the two cherubim’s which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
The lid, called the Mercy Seat, was of pure gold. On top of the Ark, the mercy seat is symbolic of Jesus filling in the gap as a perfect mediator between God the Father and sinful man.
The Holy of Holies is in that secret place where real growth occurs. Our relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ requires a constant surrendering of self.
Blood upon the Mercy seat (Jesus / The Cross) gave us access and allowed this relationship with God to be with man. He was absolutely sinless in His birth (Luke 1:35)
Hebrews 9:24 (Context 23-28) (KJ)
24. “For Christ is not entered into the Holy Place made with hands, which are the figures of the truth; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us”
