HISTORY

I.  MOSES AT THE BURNING BUSH

Exodus 3:1,5-6 (Context Chapter 3)  (NKJ)

1.  So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
5.  Then He said, “Do not draw near this place.  Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”
6.  Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”  And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

Wherever God shows up in our physical place it becomes a Holy Place!

The Purpose

Exodus 3:7-8   (NKJ)

7.  And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8.  So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

The phrase in verse 8, “So I have come down to deliver them out…,” this sounds like when Jesus came down to deliver us out of…  Whenever God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit comes down things are about to change, and deliverance is about to happen.

This scripture also tells us that God the Father is aware of where we are and what is going on with His children.

II.  GODS CALL ON MOSES

Exodus 3:10-11 (NJK)

10.  Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
11.  But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

How many times have we said, “Who am I that I should… ”  We have to remember it’s not about our ability, but Gods ability to use within for His purpose.

Should Moses be concerned?  Is Moses still a wanted man for the murder of an Egyptian.

HERE LIES THE PROBLEM

So many that are called into service of the LORD are concerned about what they will do.

However we all need to remember it’s not us doing the work; it’s the Holy Spirit working within us.

My grandpa told me, a minister of the Gospel speaking about ministers in general, said that:

  1. Some are called.
  2. Some are sent.
  3. Some packed their bags and just went.

III.  TRUST IN GOD

Exodus 3:12-15   (NKJ)

12. So He said, “I will certainly be with you.  And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

God will never leave you alone as you go through something.  Therefore always remember God is your traveling companion.

Exodus 3:12-15   (NKJ)

13.  Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”

Valid question!

14.  And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”  And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Note: This is the first place recorded in the Word that they knew God’s name, “I AM.”

15.  Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.  This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

Here is God introducing Himself as the same God that instructed Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  He said that His name, “I AM,” is a memorial for all generations.

This is a message for us today.  The God, “I AM” is whatever we need according to His plan for our lives and service.

IV.  POSITION OF SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

Exodus 4:14-17  (KJ)  (Context 15-17) (NKJ)

14.  So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother?  I know that he can speak well.  And look, he is also coming out to meet you.  When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15.  Now you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth.  And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you shall do.
16.  So he shall be your spokesman to the people.  And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God.
17.  And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”

For A Clear Understanding On Verse Sixteen (16)

Exodus 4:16   (CJB)

16.  Thus he will be your spokesman to the people, in effect; for you, he will be a mouth; and for him, you will be like God.

This phrase, “You will be like God”, could be misunderstood.  To be like God in His Image, Likeness, and in His Spirit when we Minister.

Aaron and Moses were ordained by God to Be Partners in Ministry.  However, The Great “I AM.” Moses, and Aaron had 430 years of un-godly worship of false god’s in the land of Egypt.  The reason being is that when individuals become conquered, they became their victor’s slaves, subject to their culture and their gods.

V.  PROPHECY GIVEN CONCERNING PHARAOH

Exodus 3:19-22

19.  And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20.  And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders, which I will do in the midst, thereof: and after that he will let you.  Go.
21.  And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
22.  But every woman shall borrow of her neighbor, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.

God is prophesying to Moses, of the things that will happen.  However it will require Moses to take that step of faith.  As Moses continues to follow Gods plan Moses faith is increasing, because Moses can see God moving in all his circumstances.  Isn’t that the way God still works with His children today?

VI.  MOSES AND AARON EQUAL TO PHARAOH

Exodus 4:22-23 (NAS)

22.  Then you shall say to Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD, “Israel is My son, My firstborn.
23.  “So I said to you, Let my son go, that he may serve Me; but you have refused to let him go, and if you refuse to let him go, Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.

This scripture makes it clear that Israel (All Israelites / Jewish people) are God’s son, His first born (Gentiles being His Second born?).  God’s first born being held as slaves…  What would you do?

Exodus 7:1-2 (KJ)

1.  And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
2.  Thou shalt speak all that I command thee and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

This statement made within verse 1, “See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet”.  The enemy of God recognizes Gods power and authority within you”

God called Moses, Aaron and Miriame to lead His people.

Micah 6: 4

4.  For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Miriam the prophetess led in praise and dance (First choir director ?)

Exodus 15:20-21

20.  Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took the timbre in her hand , and all the woman went out after her with timbrels and with dancing.
21.  Miriam answered them, “Sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; The horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea.”

It’s still true today God’s Daughters enter into the Holy of Holies with a heart of worship and praise.
