THE FITTINGS USED
I. FILLETS, SOCKETS
Exodus 27:10, 16 (Context 1-16) (KJ)
10. And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver.
16. And for the gate of the court shall be a hanging of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: and their pillars shall be four, and their sockets four.
As defined by Webster, taches is an archaic word, which means a device, as a buckle, hook and eye, etc. for fastening two parts together.
Therefore depending upon which translation is being used the terminology is different, however the purpose and use is not different.
II. LOOPS, COUPLINGS, RINGS, CLASPS
Exodus 26:4 (Context 4-6) (NAS)
4. You shall make loops of blue on the edges of the outermost curtain in the first set, and likewise you shall make them on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in the second set.
As defined by Webster, loop is an archaic word, which is described as a narrow opening or loophole. This device is symbolic of the church being tied, fastened, or secured to Jesus whose foundation is solid.
III. PINS, NAILS, STAKES
Pins, Nails, and Stakes have the same meaning and the usage is the same.
Now the word “nails” in the Bible is symbolic of Jesus Christ being compared to a “nail”:
Isaiah 22:23,24 (KJV)
23. “And I will fasten Him as a nail in a sure place, and He shall be for a glorious throne to his Father’s house. And they shall hang upon Him all the glory of his Father’s house.
24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
Exodus 38:20 (ASV)
20. And all the pins of the tabernacle, and of the court round about, were of brass.
The pins or nails, therefore, point to Jesus Christ in securing the believer in Himself. These pins were made of brass, resistant to rust and corrosion, not affected by the elements of the desert (wilderness). They speak of the incorruptible life and death of Jesus Christ in bearing the judgment of Almighty God for our sins. These pins were buried deeply into the ground, with the upper parts of them above the ground, and here we have the foundation of our entire security in the Gospel’s. This is symbolic of the death and the resurrection, that which is buried, and that which is risen.
Zechariah 10:3-5 (KJ)
3. Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
4. Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.
5. And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
IV. CORDS / ROPES
Jeremiah 10:20, 21 (KJ)
20. My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
The cords are symbolic of God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. This verse is telling us that Gods children turned away from Him. Therefore there is no longer a tabernacle (Physical and Spiritual) for God to dwell with them.
21. For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
This verse is happening today whereas the pastors try to control their congregation and the smart ones leave, while Gods judgment falls upon the pastors. The tabernacle cords were fastened to the pins, like the ropes (God The Father, God The Son, God The Holy Spirit), and thereby kept the pillars (Pastor, Elders, Deacons, Faithful members, etc.) of the court (Church) together and not scattering. These ropes / cords were used to keep that which was within, safe from contamination. The cords are symbolic of the Godhead. As we look at how a rope or cord is made to become stronger they use the same type of material to tightly wind them together so it is hard to distinguish them one from another. This is symbolic of God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit.
